Leading up to the spring TV season, which starts when manufacturers announce new TVs at CES in January and ends when they gradually start rolling them out to reviewers for hands-on testing, a few models always stand. from the crowd.
One of them is the new Samsung S95C. I personally anointed this flagship OLED as Best TV CES 2023 alone and then proceeded to whip him in hands-on review of the S95C OLED TV Back in February, I was conducting at the company’s office in New Jersey. I expect this model to easily enter our list. best OLED TVsand also likely to be one of best 4k tvs.
Our full review of the S95C is planned and will be here soon. But as I view this model in the context of Samsung’s expanded TV line-up alongside other leading TVs from competing manufacturers, I can’t help but think that it could end up being overshadowed by its cheaper sibling. OLED TV S90C.
Samsung did not provide full details on this new step-down OLED model at CES, though we have since learned more about it after Samsung unveils full lineup of 2023 OLED and Neo QLED TVs. We now also have final pricing information for the S90C:
77″: $3599 / NA / NA
65″: $2599 / £2999 / AU$4299
55″: $1,899 / £2,199 / AU$3,299

Samsung S90C OLED: what do we know
Here are the technical details of the S90C. It uses the same Samsung production QD OLED a display panel similar to the S95C, meaning it will be capable of delivering above-average brightness and extended color gamut even when viewed from extremely off-center seats. Both models have four HDM1 2.1 ports that support 4K up to 144Hz and VRR for gaming, and have Tuner ATSC 3.0 to watch next generation digital TV in the US.
The main area where the S90C differs from the S95C is design. The S95C has an almost impossibly thin form factor due to Samsung’s use of an external Slim One Connect box for input connections, while the S90C has an unavoidably bulkier design due to built-in connections. Even so, the S90C is only 1.6 inches deep – small for a TV by any standards.
Samsung’s specifications state that the S90C uses the Quantum HDR OLED algorithm to handle high dynamic range content, while the S95C uses the more advanced Quantum HDR OLED Plus algorithm. Is there a big difference between the two in terms of peak brightness when watching HDR programmes? It’ll be hard to tell until we measure the S90C, but the peak light output of the S95C was 1374 nits in our practice test, while last year’s Samsung S95B OLED TV measured 1060 nits when we reviewed it.
Samsung S90C OLED: what it looks like
Samsung S90C OLED TV (Image credit: Samsung)
The S95B used the same underlying Quantum HDR OLED algorithm as the S90C, so the S90C should at least match that model in terms of peak brightness. Looking at other OLED competitions, LG C3 measured just above 800 nits when we tested it, while LG G3model with a new optical component and a light amplification algorithm known as Microlens array and META technologyaccordingly, it is expected at the level of 1300-1400 nits – about the same as the new Samsung S95C OLED.
The Samsung S90C costs $600 less than its flagship S95C OLED for the 55- and 65-inch models, and $900 less for the 77-inch model. That’s a pretty significant price difference considering the S95C’s main selling points are slightly higher peak brightness (assuming the S90C matches last year’s S95B in that regard) and sleeker design.
The S90C series also costs exactly the same as LG’s C3 series in the US at all screen sizes, making the C3 the S90C’s main competitor. As we determined in our review, the C3 is an excellent TV offering several improvements over the previous model. LG C2our best TV of the year for 2022. But compared to the Samsung S90C, the C3 has lower peak brightness (an assumption yet to be verified in testing) and less dynamic color reproduction in off-center seats due to LG’s technology. Using the W-OLED display panel.
Which new OLED TV will be your best buy this year? We’ve already got a very good idea of what the Samsung S95C is capable of in our hands-on test and recently awarded the LG C3 4.5 stars in our full review.
If the Samsung S90C lives up to our expectations when it comes to maximum brightness and other performance criteria, when we finally get a review sample, at its current price it will be great value and possibly the best deal for TVs of 2023.
Shardpunk: Verminfall brings together a bunch of different ideas that you’ve seen before. It features turn-based tactical combat against rats with magic guns in a steampunk world already in ruins. He has a need to keep moving, read, the approaching horde of rats will overwhelm you. It features bunkers where your group rests, de-stresses and prepares before moving on.
Something like a mixture of Fallouty, XCOMy, FTLy, Vermintidey – which together seems very cool. It’s already out and there’s a demo.

Metal Gear Solid voice actress and vocalist Donna Burke has once again left Metal Gear fans hoping that a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake might be on the way.
Today, Burke shared a photo of herself at work and three simple words – “recording in progress” – but the accompanying photo caught the most attention:
Further tweets in which Burke writes: “Nothing beats working with good people. Nothing. Thank you for today to Mason Lieberman (Director) and Yusuke Mori (Engineer) and Tomomi Ura (EA)”, also made tongue-tied as eagle-eyed fans are convinced that the attached photos have an excerpt from the text of the Snake Eater main theme (thank you, PlayStation Lifestyle):
Donna Burke is working on a new take on the classic Snake Eater theme for the highly anticipated METAL GEAR SOLID 3 Remake. In one of the images, you can see a sheet of text on a table that contains the theme METAL GEAR SOLID 3 Snake Eater. https://t.co/vJK3A1SQf8pic.twitter.com/yuSOzNnHl5

We already know that a) Konami is firmly on board with the remake, and b) the publisher is leaky as a colander at the moment, but without official confirmation from the Japanese firm, all we can do now is mark it again with chalk. like a rumor. However, given that Burke’s tweets haven’t been deleted yet, I’d say it’s an adorable and very deliberate prank. However, as always, we will keep you updated.
Actor Oscar Isaac recently said he was still “hopeful” that the long-awaited Metal Gear Solid movie would come out.
News Release: Are Unreal Engine Procedural Generation and Ubisoft’s Ghostwriter the Future of Game Development?
In an interview about his upcoming graphic novel, Isaac was asked to provide updates on the film and he graciously agreed, although he did not provide any credible information about the progress of the film.
“We want it to happen,” Isaac said. “Be excited. What scenario? What’s the story? […] But I hope that this will come true, because there is a lot of potential for this.”
“This is an incredible game. This is my favorite game,” he confirmed.
